TJCA Receives 10 Year Charter Renewal!

March 13, 2019

For Immediate Release:

The State Board of Education renewed the charter for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at the State Board’s most recent meeting in Raleigh on March 7, 2019. All charter schools are obligated to apply for charter renewals every ten years, and Thomas Jefferson’s renewed charter will remain in effect until 2029. According to the Office of Charter Schools, “The renewal of a charter school to continue operating in North Carolina requires many steps in a two-year process. The process consists of a self-study, an Office of Charter Schools renewal visit, interviews, and Charter School Advisory Board review before recommendations [for renewal] are made to the State Board of Education.” Thomas Jefferson Upper Campus Principal Dianna Bridges commented that “the administrative teams on both campuses have worked hard to ensure a seamless renewal decision for our school’s charter, and we are very pleased to continue to be able to offer the first-rate classical education that our community has come to expect from Thomas Jefferson.”
