National Youth Science Camp – http://www.nysf.com/w/programs/nysc/ Applications are now being accepted from high school seniors in the Class of 2019 to represent North Carolina at the 2019 National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp). Two students from each state, Washington, D.C, and 8 countries will attend the allexpenses-paid program which is held from June 27 through July 20, 2019.
The NYSCamp is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program hosted in the eastern mountains of West
Virginia. Students will have an opportunity to conduct research at the nearby Green Bank Observatory and to explore the
surrounding Monongahela National Forest through backpacking, mountain biking, caving, rock-climbing, and kayaking.

Red Cross Leaders Save Lives Scholarship Program – High School Students: Host a Blood Drive, Save Lives, Possibly Win a Scholarship! If you agree to host a blood drive between June 1 – August 31, 2019 for the American Red Cross, you will earn a gift card and be entered into a scholarship drawing for up to $2,500! (The scholarship amount drawing is based on how many units of blood are collected at your drive). Cooperative Council of NC Summer Camp – Each summer, the Cooperative Council of NC holds a week-long (June 17-21, 2019), overnight camp for youth, held at the NC FFA Center at White Lake, NC. Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, this camp features energetic and interactive workshops and presentations, outdoor recreation, leadership development, team building activities and small group sessions with an emphasis on how cooperatives operate. Youth who attend are sure to have an exciting, memorable learning experience while making lasting friendships with youth from across the state. Cooperative Leadership Camp is designed to provide an enjoyable learning experience for students, concentrating on:
• The cooperative way of doing business in a free enterprise society
• Developing leadership skills and qualities in our future community leaders
• Building a better understanding and appreciation for cooperatives
• Recognizing outstanding NC youth possessing leadership qualities

Most colleges/universities will hold Fall and Spring Open House dates. Contact their admissions office and/or check online for their dates and information. Remember, you are allowed 2 “free” days (with at least one week’s notice/approval) to visit the colleges of your choice (see me for the required forms). You may also want to consider the Fall Break of October 19-21 and Spring Break of April 15-22 to do college visits, as well as Teacher Workdays in February and March and summer vacation.
