Learning Objectives:
● Identify common and proper nouns that name people, places, or things.
● New reader “Gran” is about a well traveled grandmother who visits her two
grandchildren, Josh and Jen. These stories allow children to practice reading separated digraphs: a_e, i_e, o_e, u_e. Please listen to your child read the chapter assigned on the homework sheet several times and ask the discussion questions to check for understanding. Remember to encourage your child to answer in complete sentences and to identify which text part supports their answer.

● Read and understand decodable text for grade one that incorporates the code

● Magic e acts as part of a vowel team with the letters a, i, o, and u to change the waythat each vowel sounds in a word. The double e acts as a vowel team to stand for the /ee/ sound.

Listening and Learning: Early World Civilizations- Egypt
Students will explore ancient Egypt and compare and contrast Mesopotamia and Egypt.They will learn about the importance of the Nile River; the use of hieroglyphs; the rise of pharaohs, including Tutankhamun (King Tut) and Hatshepsut; the building of the sphinx and pyramids; and the significance of mummification and the afterlife of ancient Egyptians.
