Enrichment Opportunities

Academic Enrichment Programs:

Below you will find many opportunities for your student to participate.  If you have questions regarding any event listed or regarding an event you would like to see listed, please feel free to contact me for more information.  

 

SPICE – (Superior Performance Identification Club for Enrichment)  This club offers a variety of enrichment activities for 5th grade students in the top 5th percentile as determined by MAP testing.  Previous activities have included: foreigh languages, computer games, strategic board games, introduction to the stock market, book discussions, and DNA experiments.

DUKE TIP -4th-6th Grade Talent Search - Helping students with exceptional academic potential succeed. Test score requirements at or above the 95th percentile on NC EOG or MAP.  Please contact lduncan@tjca.org for more information and questions.

Clubs:

Archery Club – This club is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.  These students will be practicing with traditional or compound bows to improve their skill level.  Details regarding this club will be sent home with your child’s class folder.

Art Club - Mrs. Kean offers this art enrichment program for two sections of students; 1st-2nd and 3rd-5th.  A flyer will be sent home with your child’s class folder with more details

***Week long Art Camps during the summer months (fee based)

***Bi-monthly weekend evening canvas painting classes (fee based)

***Quarterly “Kid’s Night Out” holiday parties with Ms. Kean and Ms. Daigle (fee based)

Includes dinner and a movie, games, crafts, activities, etc.

Chorus:  Led by Ms. Daigle, this club is for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.  Please contact ldaigle@tjca.org for more information and questions.

Elementary Battle of the Books-  Led by Mrs. Black, this club for 4th and 5th grade students, reads specified books, and practices for and participates in competitions based on knowledge of the books. For more information please contact cblack@tjca.org.

Excelsior Club –  An afterschool homework club offered to students selected by their teacher.  A letter of recommendation will be sent by Lisa Stepp to those students identified.  For more information please contact your homeroom teacher or lstepp@tjca.org.

Athletics:

Football - A community youth football program.  Details regarding this club/program will be sent home with your child in their class folder

Cheerleading – Cheerleaders will participate during the youth football program.   Details regarding this club/program will be sent home with your child in their class folder
